The Southeastern Carpenters are joining our brothers and sisters across America to stand up to tax fraud! We have planned several "Days of Action" events throughout our five-state area. The first one is listed, below. Speak out and take action! Visit this page often to see additional Action Days scheduled:
ACTION #1 - March 24 - 12:30 - 2:30 pm: Local 256 members will distribute informational flyers outside of the Walmart Super Center, 3109 1st Street, Vidalia, Georgia. For more information, contact SECRC Political Director Brett A. Hulme @ 404-293-3596 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why are so many construction contractors committing tax fraud? They do it to steal jobs from tax-paying business and their employees. Corrupt contractors pay workers off the books, or, less often, as independent contractors when they clearly shouldn’t. That allows them to evade state, local, and federal taxes, so they can illegally lower their labor costs to underbid law-abiding competitors. AND IT’S INTENTIONAL. Frequently, corrupt contractors use law-breaking labor brokers to shield themselves from accountability.
Construction Industry Tax Fraud Costs Taxpayers Over $80 Per Second, Up to $2.6 Billion Per Year.
