Congratulations to the Local 256 Political Committee for going to work for endorsed candidate, Minister Rufus Bright Jr., in the Port Wentworth City Council At-Large seat. Minister Bright was first interviewed by members of Local 256 Political Committee, and the Committee then recommended (and the body voted) to support Minister Bright at the October membership meeting.
Local 256 support came with a financial contribution, and a Political Action Day on Saturday, October 21, where members and their wives built the infrastructure for a candidate Street Party. 300-Hitter Jim Stossmeister and his wife Marci, Political Committee Chair Brett A. Hulme and his wife Christi, apprentice Tymorion Mikevar, and Executive Board member Tim Grayson and his wife assembled tents, arranged barricades, set up tables and chairs, and assisted with decorations and layout of vendors. A little over 10 hours were volunteered.
All volunteers, with candidate Minister Rufus Bright, are pictured on the right. The visibility of Carpenters going to work for their supported candidate has already led to 2018 candidates seeking Local 256’s support.
