Recruiting Blitz Held in Georgia & Tennessee

A core responsibility of any Labor Union is ensuring a steady pipeline of new members entering the trade. Recently, the Southeastern Carpenters Regional Council (SECRC) launched a recruiting blitz, participating in three workforce development events to showcase the benefits of becoming a professional carpenter or millwright.

To kick off the effort, Millwright Local 1263 Business Representative Patrick Willingham and Council Member Engagement Program Representative Je Ann Will represented SECRC at the 11th Congressional District of Georgia Skilled Trades Fair at Georgia Highlands College in Cartersville on September 9. There, they met one-on-one with potential new members.

Just two days later, the Southern District Training Trust Fund’s Nashville Training Center hosted Music City Construction Careers (MC3). Students attended a dedicated class, followed by a Q&A session and a guided tour of the facility by training and Council staff members.

Finally, SECRC members joined the Atlanta Department of Labor & Employment Services Career and Resource Fair on September 18. Instructor Rolando Salinas, Millwright Local 1263 Business Manager Robert Strickland, and Je Ann Will connected with dozens of community members eager to learn about opportunities in the skilled trades.
